Grazing Program

Technical Assistance
Taylor County LCD offers technical and financial assistance to farmers who want to incorporate grazing into their farms.  The first step is to work with a certified grazing planner to create a custom grazing plan for your farm.  Thanks to grant funding from USDA-NRCS and the US Forest Service, there is no change for Taylor County farmers.

Once a farmer has a grazing plan, the LCD can provide cost-share assistance of up to 70% to implement it through our Conservation Assistance Program.  Practices available for cost-share include fencing, cattle crossings, stream bank and shoreline protection, animal trails and walkways, and watering systems.

No-Till Drill Rental
Taylor County LCD owns a 10-foot Great Plains no-till drill, which is available for rent and works well for inter-seeding pastures.  The cost is $60 per farm per year plus $6 per acre. It often has a waiting list in spring, so be sure to call early.  notill
