Fitness Room Rules and Guidelines – Human Services
Eligibility and Access
- The fitness room is available for use 24/7 by the following individuals:
- Employees of Taylor County
- Spouses of Taylor County employees.
- Children aged 13 and older of Taylor County employees. Children may only use the room when accompanied by their parent or guardian.
- Individuals occupying offices in County facilities.
- Retirees – permitted during business hours [8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.]
- All individuals must sign a liability waiver prior to accessing the fitness room.
- Lockers are available for use during exercise sessions. Please do not leave personal items in lockers overnight.
- Personal fitness equipment may not be left in the fitness room without prior approval from the Employee Wellness Coordinator. Contact a Fitness Room Representative for equipment requests or approval.
- Please use the Sheriff’s Department dispatch entrance to enter and depart the building after Courthouse business hours and on weekends.
- All fitness room keys/fobs of employees, spouses, and children must be returned to Human Resources upon separation of employment from Taylor County, or when individuals are no longer occupying offices in County facilities.
Eligibility and Access (Human Services Fitness Room)
- The fitness room is available for 24/7 use by Taylor County Human Services department employees only.
- Employee spouses and children aged 13 and older may sign up to use the Courthouse Fitness Room.
- All individuals must sign a liability waiver prior to accessing the fitness room.
- Personal items and/or fitness equipment may not be left in the fitness room without prior approval from the Employee Wellness Coordinator and Human Services Director.
- Ensure all doors are locked upon after-hours departure.
Safety and Liability
- Prioritize your safety and the safety of others at all times while using the fitness room.
- Consult with a healthcare professional before engaging in physical activity.
- Familiarize yourself with the proper use of all equipment before usage and use only as intended. Do not attempt to operate any piece of equipment with which you are unfamiliar, or which is damaged or has been labeled out-of-order.
- Report any malfunctioning or damaged equipment immediately to a fitness room representative.
- Dress appropriately in workout attire and clean footwear. Shirts and closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times.
- Do not leave personal items, gym bags, backpacks, or other items on the floor in foot traffic areas.
- Users access the room and use equipment at their own risk. Taylor County is not responsible for any injuries, accidents, or lost/stolen personal items that occur within the fitness room or locker rooms.
Etiquette and Conduct
- Maintain cleanliness by disposing of trash properly and keeping personal items organized.
- Use the provided sanitizing wipes or sprays to clean equipment before and after use.
- Do not bring food or beverages (except for water bottles/fitness drinks with secure caps) into the fitness room.
- Return weights and other items to their designated location after each use.
- Respect the rights and space of others using the fitness room.
- Abide by a 30-minute time limit on equipment and rotate with others between sets when possible.
- Refrain from taking photos or videos within the fitness room that may include other individuals without their explicit permission. Photos or videos within locker rooms are strictly prohibited.
Emergency Procedures
- In case of an emergency, call 911 immediately for medical, fire, or police assistance.
- Familiarize yourself with the location and operation of emergency exits and fire extinguishers.
- If an evacuation is necessary, follow posted evacuation routes and proceed to the designated assembly point outside the building.

- For equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or general questions, contact a Fitness Room Representative.
