Suicide Prevention

  • Although it is a topic that many do not want to speak about, the reality is that suicide happens in our community. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in Wisconsin and in 2021, there were 905 deaths throughout the state due to suicide. Even one death due to suicide is too many.
  • As the community continues to increase their focus on mental health, we wanted to be able to prevent suicide by utilizing an innovative, practical, and proven suicide prevention training: QPR. QPR stands for “Question. Persuade. Refer.” and is a FREE, one- hour training that teaches individuals to appropriately respond to someone who may be suicidal, common causes and warning signs of suicidal behavior, and how to get help for yourself or someone else in crisis.
  • If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts or are in crisis, please call 988.

Prevent Suicide Taylor County

Prevent Suicide Taylor County, or PSTC, was started by a small group of individuals with passion for preventing suicide in Taylor County. We meet monthly, host the annual #WalkTogether for Mental Health in September, offer QPR Trainings, and participate in various outreach to work towards our vision for a community where no lives are lost to suicide.
